WE ARE MARKET BASKET (the book)
About the Authors
Dr. Daniel Korschun
Korschun is a business school professor at Drexel University. Before moving to Philadelphia, he lived in Brookline, MA and Nashua, NH for the better part of 20 years.
Since he specializes in corporate responsibility, he was first drawn to the case because the Market Basket protest was the most dramatic evidence he had ever seen that responsible management can be motivating for associates, vendors and customers. The first rally he attended left him dumbfounded by the passion and commitment of the protesters. It was also clear that much of it could be traced to good management and the culture of the company.
He has been quoted widely and frequently on the saga. Find some early comments on the Market Basket standoff at:

Korschun originally planned to write a case study for a class his Executive MBA class, but it became clear early on that to do justice to a movement involving 2 million customers, 25 thousand associates, countless vendors, and community leaders, it would take more than a few pages. Fortunately, many protesters were willing to share their stories and thoughts for the book.
The result is a book that is meant not only to relive the events but also to share lessons.
Korschun's broader research interest is corporate social responsibility and corporate reputation management.
He studies the relationships that stakeholders form with the company and other stakeholders. He believes that managers can foster strong and enduring relationships with (and among) stakeholders by encouraging individuals to psychologically “subscribe” to the company.
You can find his academic work in some of the world's most prestigious journals including the Journal of Marketing and the Academy of Management Review. His co-authored article in MIT/Sloan Management Review was an Emerald Citation of Excellence winner for being one of the top 50 most impactful articles across all business disciplines. He is also the recipient of grants and recognition from the Oxford Center for Corporate Reputation (2013) and the Wharton Customer Analytics Initiative (2013).
On the teaching side, Korschun has won multiple awards, both for the business school and for Drexel University at large.

Since that time, he has written nearly 100 articles on the story, and interviewed many dozens of associates including just about every executive in the company.
